On the righthand side, at the top of the rock cave, you can have a glimpse of some footprints which
resemble the shape of horse's hooves. The origin of these elements is unknown but the town’s
folklore has created legends and stories to explain the appearance of these footprints.
One legend attributes the origin of the footprints to Tertullo’s horse, who fell from the top of the
cave; another connects them to the winged Pegasus myth.
Popular tradition also associates this place to another exceptional legend.
In the middle of the night, occasionally, some inhabitants of the houses next to the cave can hear
noises similar to those of a battle, chains clanking, cries of Roman soldiers and horses' hooves.
Locked up in their house and withdrawn from others, the inhabitants would warn children to not try
to peer outside the housing: if their eyes crossed those of a soldier, he would take their soul.
