According to the story and myth, the cave is connected by underground tunnels to the Mother Church and to the catacombs where the three young Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino were buried by the noble women Giustina and Tecla.
It is said that the place where the graves of the three martyrs are placed was in fact, Tecla’s property. From there, through the underground way, Tecla, along with Giustina, would visit the prison, bringing food and comfort to the three young brothers.
