The story tells us that Saint Alfio’s tongue, after being torn off during his martyrdom, fell to the ground and bounced three times, digging the famous three water wells. The first of these wells is located behind the altar; the second is in the center of the church, covered by a glass surface that allows view to visitors and worshippers; the third one is outside the church, on the road. It is said that, in May, during the days of the Patrons’ feast, the water level, which is normally kept low, miraculously starts rising.
