During the Patrons’ feast, a silver carriage with the statue of a sitting St. Alfio and the relics of the martyrs, commonly called "A Vara" in sicilian dialect, makes a stop in this church. It remains the only place along with the Mother Church, to guard for an entire night, between May 10th and May 11th, the relics of the saints. Referring to this event, local people use to say that this was the night when "St. Alfio was sleeping with his brothers”. It means that he is at home, in the same place where, along with his brothers Filadelfo and Cirino, he was martyred. It has significance for believers as the statues are reunited in the same place, together with the relics.
